Knowledgetech will be developing the BuiltSpace.com and GoodNeighbours.com applications for the websites' first phase launch. These applications are expected to revolutionize building management and social networks, and enhance the sustainability of institutional, commercial and large residential buildings and their communities. Both solutions will use Microsoft's SharePoint Server 2010 platform.
The initial BuiltSpace.com offering will engage occupants and assist building owners and management to measure, evaluate, report and improve the energy and resource consumption of buildings. This application will capture energy information from buildings, allowing operators to efficiently react to trends in energy and resource consumption. The consumption data will be available to all members of the building community through BuiltSpace.com. The BuiltSpace.com site will also enable property management companies to share consumption and sustainability information with the public. This will help prospective tenants locate sustainable buildings.
BuiltSpace.com will integrate with its sister website, GoodNeighbours.com. GoodNeighbours is a social network for sustainable communities. It engages occupants in the community to promote behaviour changes by providing an online social network in which to communicate and interact. Each building community is encouraged to participate and generate ongoing conservation and community initiatives.
President of BuiltSpace Technologies Corporation Rick Rolston conceived the idea for BuiltSpace and GoodNeighbours after a twenty year career as CTO of Ingenium Technologies. Ingenium, a Vancouver-based information services company, manages building project reports across North America, helping the construction industry track new building development.
"I began considering how information services could help build sustainable communities and streamline energy efficiency projects in existing buildings," says Rick Rolston. "Earlier this year, I sold my interest in Ingenium, retained the BuiltSpace and GoodNeighbours concepts I had been developing, and incorporated companies to house each business."
